770 Park Avenue is a very prestigious building residing on the Park Avenue "Gold Coast." It was built in 1930 by architect Rosario Candela, widely regarded as the foremost architect of grand apartment buildings in the city. The building is 19 stories in Georgian-style with a stone base of three stories. The floors above the base are red brick and there are Juliet railings on some of the taller windows. The building has an H-shaped configuration with 40 units of simplex and duplex apartments (most of the duplexes are composed of 10 to 15 rooms). The typical floor has four apartments, three duplexes and a back simplex. The units feature high ceilings, grand entranceways, terraces and fireplaces. There is also an amazing 15-room simplex penthouse on the 17th floor with a setback terrace that has access from the living room, library, dining room, and octagonal breakfast room. Many of the units contain libraries, elevators, and offer great spaces for entertaining. The cooperative's amenities include a doorman and a gym. It is a pet friendly building.
